Tequila Ocho Añejo Barrel Select Widow Jane 2022 – 750ml
This bottle exceeded every expectation I had. I’ve enjoyed a lot of exceptional additive-free tequilas over the years, and the 2022 Widow Jane Barrel Select from Tequila Ocho is one of the most memorable pours I’ve had.
The influence of the Widow Jane bourbon barrels is beautifully restrained. Instead of overpowering the agave, it enhances it with layers of rich caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, baking spices, and dark chocolate while allowing the signature cooked agave character to remain front and center. The balance is remarkable. Every sip reveals something new, and the finish is long, warm, and incredibly elegant without becoming overly sweet or dominated by oak.
What impressed me most is how seamlessly the bourbon barrel influence and Ocho’s traditional tequila character work together. It’s complex enough to sit and analyze, yet approachable enough to simply enjoy. In my opinion, this is an exceptional añejo and one of the finest barrel-finished tequilas I’ve tasted.
I also want to recognize Liquor on Broadway. Purchasing from them was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I called with a few questions before ordering, and instead of trying to sell me the most expensive bottle, they took the time to understand my personal preferences and offered thoughtful, knowledgeable recommendations that were right on target.
I’ve had some disappointing experiences with other online liquor retailers in the past, where customer service felt rushed or nonexistent. Thankfully, finding Liquor on Broadway completely changed that. Their professionalism, product knowledge, and genuine willingness to help made the entire buying experience a pleasure. I’ll absolutely be purchasing from them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for both outstanding tequila and outstanding customer service.
